Stories of Kindness from Around the World

A Big Bang For My Bucks!

Forgoing my normal meditation routine in the a.m. I decided I would go to the Dollar Tree store this morning before work and pick up some balloons for a coworkers departure. Well, you know as well as I do that you end up finding other items and spending more time in the store than initially planned right ? Which is exactly what happened to me.

Eventually making my way to the cashier I unloaded my twenty items (Laughing) and while the cashier was ringing it all up, I glanced behind me and there was a woman unloading her items behind me; notebook paper, tissues, comp books, pencils to name a few things. Then the cashier had finished my order. And suddenly I had this overwhelming adrenaline rush of excitement (Hair-raising included) ! THIS IS MY MOMENT to commit a Random Act Of Kindness! So I said to the cashier that I wanted to pay for the woman's items as well. The feeling that came over me was one that I have never experienced.

As she and I made eye contact, tears welled up in both of our eyes and we hugged each other; her thanking me and me saying "you're welcome, now you can do something nice for yourself!" I then handed her my first SMILE card and asked her to pay it forward etc. The magic of the moment continued while the cashier finished the order. The woman I had just met behind me continued to explain to me that she had just become a foster mother of two children the night before and she was trying to purchase some needed school and home supplies for them. I commended her on her devotion on caring for these children and that I worked for ECS where I come in contact with many foster parents. I shared how I respected the roles they play in caring for children. She thanked me once again and I turned and said, "I thank you as well." As I made my way to the car I felt as if I was floating on a cloud, literally.

It was such a high experience and one I will never forget. I am a solid believer in synchronicity. If I had followed my normal routine of my typical morning, I would not have encountered this woman and would have missed this positive experience altogether. Wow! In closing I want to share my favorite phrase that goes so well with this experience:

"Love the Moment
And the Energy of that Moment
Will Last Beyond all Boundaries"

Namaste My Comrades!
