Human life is a continuous thread which each of us spins to his own pattern, rich and complex in meaning. -- Edgar Z. Friedenberg
Spend Time With a Child or an Elder: Being in the presence of people who are either much older or much younger than us offers a special opportunity to learn. Children have an innocence, wide-eyed curiosity and natural ability to be anchored in the present. Elders are keepers of rich experience and insight. Often they move at a pace that frees them time to focus on details that are lost to those of us rushing through to-do-lists. Today, spend time with a child or elder. Engage in play or conversation and stay fully present (no cell phones!) throughout – notice what it feels like to explore what you can learn from the other in that moment.
