A Slice of Generosity

We took the kids for dinner at Pizza Express. There was a very friendly lady dining alone at the next table who clearly had special needs. When the time came for her to pay the bill, her bank card was declined. The waitress told to her, in a very kind way, that there was a problem but that she would call her manager for help. Jeremy, my husband,  immediately leapt up and told the waiting staff that we would pay for the lady's meal. However, when the manager arrived, he explained to the lady that she couldn't use her bank card to pay, but that there was no need to worry. Pizza Express authorizes the restaurant to give away two free meals per month.  On this occasion, they would like to provide her with a free meal. Soldiers of the Night

Last Saturday, we were walking back home after a nice evening with family. I asked my friend if we could walk through the town and not take our usual shortcut. So we did. Suddenly, a few steps ahead, we saw a woman sitting on the edge of the side-walk.

She looked bad and when we kneeled to ask her if she felt alright, we realized she was badly injured and covered with blood. While my friend ran back to our closest friend's place to get a thick cover (it was freezing), a young fellow joined us and called an ambulance.

All along I sat next to her, talking and listening, talking and listening to keep her awake until the ambulance arrived as she was badly shocked and started to fall asleep. I know that it is a very dangerous thing and she might have lost consciousness. Hope she is safe and sound now. She called us "the soldiers of the night."

I want to thank you all for the support I found on this blessed place in Kindspring. It completely changed my life. It helped me to overcome a lot of doubts and fears. I like to think about all the hopes and discoveries I will share with you in 2016!
