If I Had To Raise Our Child Again

If I Had my Child To Raise Over Again   IF I had my child to raise all over again, I'd build self-esteem first, and the house later. I'd finger paint more, and point the finger less. I would do less correcting and more connecting. I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes. I would care to know less and know to care more. I'd take more hikes and fly more kites. I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play. I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars, I'd do more hugging and less tugging. I'd see the oak tree in the acorn more often, I would be firm less often, and affirm much more. I'd model less about the love of power, And more about the power of love.   --Diane Loomans ... A Priceless Smile From An Old Lady

I was at a busy traffic junction waiting to walk over to the other side when the green lights come on.  There was a family, a man, his wife and an elderly lady, waiting to cross with me. Both the man and his wife were chatting endlessly while the elderly lady was engrossed in staring at a banner with a picture of a child and a mother, which brought tears to her eyes.  Then, the lights finally turned green and all of us rushed to cross the road.  The signal was very short, so the lights changed to red in no time.  I noticed that both the man and his wife had crossed along with me and the elderly lady was left behind.  She seemed to panic as the other two had already crossed and were continuing on without looking back.  I quickly realized what was happening and signaled the ... The Magic Wallet

While I was waiting to board a domestic flight at the airport, I began observing one gentleman of medium height and of medium build who carried himself with dignity.  He was walking with his wife and his two children,a boy and a girl.  They appeared to be a happy family.   I could see the love of the father for his wife and children whom he adored.  When the time finally came for the man to go to the security check line, he picked up his daughter and planted kisses and whispered some thing into her ears.  He then bent and caressed his son and patted him on the back and waved to the wife.  I could see that his eyes were turning misty and the same emotions could be seen with his wife and children.  He gave a last look and started his walk briskly and never looked back.  ... A Tribute to You

Here is to sharing a piece that celebrates you: "You deserve to be credited for defying the opinions and expectations of many of the people around you. When they said that it couldn't be done, you would not hear. You set your goals on something that only you seemed to see, and you refused to back down until your dream was realized. The course you chose was demanding and difficult. I saw you in the middle of situations that required both courage and sacrifice in order to achieve the greater end. The scars you've earned are really the marks of a true hero, and I want to let you know how proud I am to know you. Seeing you set your goal and gather the courage it took to face the disbelief of others, to struggle and forge your way to a new horizon, has been an inspiration to me. Your growth has ... The Floor of Dreams

The story I read illustrates the point that dreams are to be lived and not to die. There were once 2 brothers who lived on the 80th level. On coming home one day, they realized to their dismay that the lifts were not working and that they have to climb the stairs to get home. After struggling to the 20th level, panting and tired, they decided to abandon their bags and come back for them the next day. They left their bags then and climbed on. When they had struggled to the 40th level, the younger brother started to grumble and both of them began to quarrel. They continued to climb the flights of steps, quarreling all the way to the 60th floor. They then realized that they had only 20 levels more to climb and decided to stop quarreling and continue climbing in peace. They silently climbed on and reached their home at ... Read Full Story >>

More Than a Passing Grade

I was waiting outside the examination hall where my son was to take a test and the boys and girls were busy running around, discussing and debating, all while being watched by their anxious parents. There was great noise and bluster.    I noticed one boy alone with fear written all over his face.  He did not interact with the other kids and he looked confused. He was making hesitant moves to mix with others, but he seemed to lack confidence. He made an  impression on me. I moved towards him and smiled at him. He smiled back meekly. Then I started making a conversation with him and  told him that he would do well on the exam. This put him at ease and he said that he was a top performer all along and that his parents never cared for him and did not give any support to him. ... Read Full Story >>

I Love You Before Tomorrow

Here is a dedication to my dearest friends:

Tomorrow May Become Never

Say your I love you’s today
Tomorrow it might be too late
Here and now is forever
Regrets my friend, are too hard to shake

Tomorrow may become never
Who knows when they could be gone
I’ve done this one time too many
Although I knew it was wrong

So I love you mother and father
I love you my brother alike
I love you my husband and daughter
And all who have influenced my life

I will always speak from the heart
I will speak every word as our last
I shall have no further regrets
When someone I love has passed

On Albert Einstein

When Albert Einstein was making the rounds of the speaker's circuit, he usually found himself eagerly longing to get back to his laboratory work. One night as they were driving to yet another rubber-chicken dinner, Einstein mentioned to his chauffeur (a man who somewhat resembled Einstein in looks & manner) that he was tired of speech making. "I have and idea, boss," his chauffeur said. "I've heard you give this speech so many times. I'll bet I could give it for you." Einstein laughed loudly and said, "Why not? Let's do it!" When they arrive at the dinner, Einstein donned the chauffeur's cap and jacket and sat in the back of the room. The chauffeur gave a beautiful rendition of Einstein's speech and even answered a few questions expertly. Then a supremely pompous professor ask an extremely esoteric question about anti-matter formation, digressing here and there to let everyone in the audience know that ... Read Full Story >>
