A Train Delayed And A Life Saved
I had been spending some time in my home town and was about to return to my workplace. Arriving at the railway station I found my train was two hours late thanks to monsoon weather. I had arrived half an hour early, which meant I now had two and a half hours to wait in the bus station. I was more than a little worried about that! I took my luggage to a bench where only one other lady was sitting. Even sitting at the opposite end of the bench I couldn't help but notice how sad she looked. Her pretty face seemed very worried. Rather than sit in silence I asked her if she was waiting for the next train. She didn't respond. I asked her again. She replied, "Uhuh. Yes." Then she wiped her eyes. I moved closer and said, "Hey dear, what is wrong with you? Why are you weeping? ... Read Full Story >>

Parents Are Precious
Venkatesh Balasubramaniam (who works for IIT) describes how his gesture of booking an air ticket for his father brought forth a rush of emotions and made him (Venkatesh) realize how much we all take for granted when it comes to our parents. My parents left for our native land on Thursday and we went to the airport to see them off. In fact, my father had never traveled by air before, so I just took this opportunity to ensure he experienced his first flight. In spite of being asked to book tickets by train, I got them tickets on Jet Airways. The moment I handed over the tickets to him, he was surprised to see that I had booked them by air. The excitement was very apparent on his face. Just like a school boy, he was preparing himself for that day. We all went to the airport and eagerly enjoyed the ... Read Full Story >>

Decorating A Heart With Honesty And Kindness
Yesterday I was asked to deposit some cash in the bank. I went out with the money to deposit and some extra money which was to be used to pay for renovations going on at my house. The bank was busy when I arrived so I took a token and waited. While I was waiting I noticed an old lady struggling to get a cash-in payee slip. I went over and got the slip for her and then asked her what she needed done so I could help her. I filled in her slip and got a queue token for her. When my turn came up, I deposited the money and I then waited for the old lady's turn in case she needed help. She had intended to deposit three thousand rupees but when it was almost her turn she realised she had lost the money on the way to the bank! She was so upset she started crying. She tried to ... Teelu The Puppy
Yesterday afternoon the sky was dark and the rain poured down. I went upstairs to catch the cool breeze. It was still moody, as if sky and the clouds were tired and decided to cry some rain. Yet the climate was awesome and the breeze cooled my body from head to toe. I went onto the balcony and saw a small puppy near the gate of our apartment. He had been drenched by the rain. I immediately ran downstairs with a towel in my hand. I rushed to the puppy and wrapped him in the towel. I cleaned the mud from him, got into an auto, and took him to nearby veterinary doctor. He examined him and gave an injection for his health. I brought him back home and made a place for him to sleep. I gave him a cup of milk and bread to keep his hunger away. He was good enough and ... Helping a Pregnant Lady
Two weeks back, one fine Sunday morning, I was awoken by a strange murmuring sound outside my house. I went out to check it out to see where the sound was coming from. To my surprise, I found a lady who was preganant just a couple of steps from my home. It appeared that she has lost her balance and slipped. As it was Sunday, nobody was walking near by and she was helpless. The pregnant lady was losing her consicous slowly and murmuring as she was unable to get up. I felt stunned and helped her by taking her in my car to the nearby hospital. She was given treatment and was slowly getting back her consicousness. She looked at me in thankfulness and gave me her husband's number who was in home. I called her husband and informed him about what had happened and he rushed to the hospital. Everything was fine and I gave ... Read Full Story >>

An Extra Dose of Compassion at the Hospital
Today I met an old lady when I was in hospital. I was done with my check-up and I was standing in medicine counter of the hospital to get my medicinal receipt and medicines. I saw that the old lady was sitting in a nearby chair and waiting for something. She seemed a little distraught so I asked her if she was okay.
She told me that she was waiting for her son who was tied up with some personal work and he had told her that he could come back in a few hours. She said that she was feeling faint and tired. I rushed to the nearby hospital cafeteria and bought her some breakfast. I then got her prescription for her and paid for her medication along with mine.
She had the breakfast and she was happy now. She also had the tablet and thanked me.
I was happier for showing kindness to her.

Thank You Dad !
For the good times that we share,
Thanks for always listening,
For trying to be fair.
Thank you for your comfort,
When things are going bad,
Thank you for the shoulder,
To cry on when I'm sad.
This poem is a reminder that
All my life through,
I'll be thanking Heaven
For a Special Dad like you."
Smiles,

Unconditional Love
Love is patient, Love is kind
Love is learning to be blind.
To others faults, it keeps no score,
Love is learning much much more.
Love protects and always trusts,
Perseverance is a must.
Love is facing stormy weather,
Hand in hand we walk together.
Love is honest, not deceiving,
In the Universe and others we keep believing.
Love is learning to forgive
And teaches us how to live.
True love we find will not forsake
But always gives more than it takes.
Love is learning to rejoice
In all we face, it is our choice.
We are learning the meaning of love
the greatest lesson of any life.

My Giving Friend!
Our joy and also our pain.
Without you as my friend,
I just might go insane!
You’ve been through big things, too.
Yet you cheer me when I’m happy,
You comfort me when I’m blue.
I’d be lost without you, friend.
What we have together
No one else can comprehend.
Smiles,
Ramya . . .

Caring for a Lost Little Dog
One morning last week, I was waiting at the bus stop ready to catch my bus to work when all of a sudden I was shocked to see a big lorry hit a small little dog. I looked around but no one was around to look after the small dog. No one came for it and it was just lying there hurt – it was whimpering and its legs were bleeding. I was very worried so I ran across the road to the small dog. I picked it up and took it to veterinarian that I knew nearby. Once the vet had bandaged the small dog up, I took it to the animal shelter and left the dog with them. Every evening since then I have been to the animal shelter to visit the small dog and give the animal shelter some money for it. Everyday I go visit makes me very happy. I am so ... Helping On The Way To A Job Interview
I had a job interview this morning at 10.30 in a place which was quite far from my house. I had asked my brother to drop me at the bus stop. But, just my bad luck, he was running late and it was already 9.45 before I reached the bus stop. Anyway, I caught my first bus and had to wait at another stop for the second one. Then, in front of my eyes, a little girl (who may have been a beggar) was hit by a car! The car drove off without stopping. The girl was badly hurt in her hands and legs. She was bleeding heavily, and was screaming in pain. After a few seconds she fainted. People standing nearby didn't seem to know what to do, not even the traffic policeman who was watching it all! I ran over and called for an auto. A beggar, who seemed to be the ... Read Full Story >>
