Healing Blanket

Many years ago Kindspringer Mish offered me a Healing blanket with inspirational words on it when I was in extreme pain and could barely walk. She has inspired me to pay it forward and I bought a healing blanket for the librarian who is off now as she is going through cancer treatments. I will drop it off for coworkers to bring her! Thank you Mish! Scully ps: I still have my blanket and I have fully healed๐Ÿ™

Happy September!

Gave home grown vegetables to several people this week.
Made condolence baskets for two friends who lost their parents this week.

Listened to a stranger in a cafe because she needed to talk and get ideas about what to do (she recently retired)---and then it turned out that she knew a faculty member in a different department at my university! She was wearing some sort of brace and alluded to being injured and healing....and after we finished the conversation she said to me "talking to you lessened my physical pain"---wow....I could not believe that! Made my day.

This evening will take banana bread to a neighbor who is hosting a "crafting circle"--will bring projects I'm making for some babies.

We are in the second week of the semester and feeling very happy about connecting with students and colleagues.

Signed up to help with voter turnout! And this weekend two other volunteering gigs plus music rehearsals for community gatherings next month.

Offered Food To Elderly

An Elderly Woman is shouting in bus stand "Father, Father...". She is holding a glass and requesting for help. I gave some cash and went off. But that cash would suffice only for a cup of tea or some biscuits. I went to hotel. Packaged plate of IDLI. We get 4 pieces of IDLI in one plate. I went back to that needy Elderly Woman and handed out Packaged IDLI Packet which contains 4 IDLIS and chutney.

Offering Help To A Lost Stranger

Today, I was on my way out for a work break, and I saw an older gentleman in the building lobby.

He asked me if I worked there, so I stopped to try to find out where he wanted to go.

He had an address, which was not our building, but nearby, so I walked/showed him the way over to the address, and tried to find answers for him.

I was able to get a website for him, and told him to get a friend to help him find the right place.

I wish I had more time to help him.

Small Kindness

It's hot out today. A young man came to our door offering to sell us a service we didn't need. I asked if he had water, and he pulled out a smashed plastic bottle that was nearly empty. I offered to refill it, and he finished it and thanked me. I invited him in, where it was cooler while I refilled his bottle. I offered him ice, but he thanked me and said he was fine. Ben did door-to-door sales (so did I), and I know how tiring it can be, especially in the summertime.

Neighbourly Kindness

I met a lovely lady yesterday. I was cutting the hedge and she walked by with her beautiful dog. She was going for a walk but we started talking and ended up spending an hour chatting! She told me where she lives and I praised her because I know the house around the corner. I often admire her front garden with her gorgeous flowers. I could tell it was someone who cares. This morning on my walk I went by her house and left her a few kind treats and an invitation to come over for tea on Saturday. Love making new neighbourly friends :-)

“URGENT: Deadly New Wave of Attacks is Devastating Ukraine” ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

“August 2024: Russia just launched a massive attack on over half of Ukraine. Abandoned animals are cowering in rubble as missiles continue to rain down. Critical infrastructures are being targeted and knocking out power and water to civilians.

Brave volunteers continue to risk their lives to save innocent animals from the front lines. Evacuated animals are arriving daily at Patron Pet Center in Kyiv, where they receive medical attention, and a safe place to rest.

The center is stretched to capacity, caring for 200 animals. The most recent attack left them without power, leaving them to do this critical work in the dark.

They need our help now.

GreaterGood is providing medical care and support for these pets so they can find safety at the Patron Pet Center.“

Welcomed A Beautiful Japanese

Welcomed a beautiful Japanese young lady who came to stay with us for 5 weeks. Her Mum has been emailing for months, worried about her coming to the UK alone. They seem to have a very loving bond so I feel honoured to be chosen to look after her here. Marika is very sweet and smart. She's considerate in the house and listens carefully to all instructions. It does take some time and patience to get use to the way things are done in another country; small things like cooking habits, rubbish collection, recycling, etc. we don't realise until we travel or welcome someone from a very different culture. BUT love and KINDNESS make all the difference :-)

โค๏ธ๐ŸŒฒ Kindness And Connection In The Park

๐ŸŒฒ As shared before about my husband, he often hands out peace doves, gold stars, etc., during his daily walk in our local park, to people he passes. He enjoys doing this & strangers sometimes become friends….at the least they smile wide ๐Ÿ˜…..

โญ๏ธ Yesterday he handed out a gold star to an elderly man with a cane he sees most days there sitting on a bench. He never seems to smile or talk to anyone. He smiled when told he was getting a gold star for “good attendance” , lol. Today when he saw my husband passing his bench he waved & smiled at my husband. A simple act of reaching out with kindness can help bring someone out of their shell. ๐Ÿšโค๏ธ

After-all, he reached out to me with a simple hello there back in 1977 & look where that led, lol ๐Ÿ‘ฐ๐Ÿป โค๏ธ ๐Ÿคต‍โ™‚๏ธ

At The Parking Lot

As I was transferring my full grocery bags from the shopping cart to my car, another car parked next to me. A pregnant mom removed her toddler son from the safety seat, carried him, and was beginning to walk to the store. I asked the mom if she would like my now empty cart and she happily agreed. As she began to put her son into the child seat of the cart, her son dropped his toy. I picked it up and held it for him until the mom completed her task. I gave the toy to the mom. She thanked me again and then instructed her little charge to thank me as well. The sweetest, cutest thank you from him. All very small, but meaningful acts of kindness

โ€œthatโ€™s Really Cool.โ€ A ...

“That’s really cool.” A mid-thirties woman sits across from me, opening her laptop, at the tall long table in the airport concourse.
“Would you like to have it? It flaps its wings and folds flat for travel.”
“I would love to have it.” I gladly hand her the flapping-winged crane.

“How fun that you can do that to bring others uplift.”
“I live for it!”

A few minutes earlier I had handed the barista an origami heart as I paid for my mocha. Immediately her neutral expression changed to the widest grin. “Thank you so much!” She said, meeting me with warm and grateful eyes.

I love these small moments of connection, when we shift from autopilot to awake and connected.
The smallest act, the briefest moment, the hugest change.
It is my greatest joy.

Our Neighborโ€™s Kind Note Floored Me

Our eldest daughter (who has special needs) has a habit of plucking leaves from the plants and making some designs to meet her sensory needs. It's a harmless past time so my wife and I never bothered with it. We created a garden in our house to meet her needs. But over the past few months, she has a habit of stepping in our neighbors garden and taking some leaves from the plants. I tried to gently point out to her that our neighbor may not like their plants to be disturbed but she became sensitive. So I wrote a note to our neighbor apologizing on her behalf and requesting them a list of plants I can buy for them. Our neighbor floored us with his kindness with a note: "Don't even think about it, she is like our daughter. It's just some plants, we can always replace them.
She can feel free to come if that makes her happy."
Our neighbor is the community member of this week and I am in disguise :)
Thank you kindspringers; you all inspire me in one form or other!
